Summary
The CP_POLYGETZ command facilitates the transfer of elevation data between two polylines—a source and a target—based on proximity and specific criteria. This command is particularly useful for aligning 3D elevation data between polylines in geographic and surveying applications.
CADPower -> Polyline Tools -> Others -> Acquire neighbouring polyline elevations
Key features include:
- Source and Target Selection: Select a source polyline to acquire elevations and a target polyline to provide the elevation data.
- Search Tolerance: Specify a search tolerance to define the proximity criteria for elevation transfer, ensuring accurate elevation mapping.
Two main methods for elevation transfer:
- Create Vertex on Source Polyline:
- For each vertex of the target polyline, the command finds the nearest 3D point on the source polyline.
- A new source polyline is created using these points, with the number of vertices matching the target polyline and the elevations set to the nearest target polyline vertex elevations.
- Populate Source Polyline Vertex Elevations:
- The elevation of each vertex in the source polyline is updated to match the elevation of the nearest point on the target polyline.
- The vertex count of the source polyline remains unchanged, but the elevations are adjusted according to the target polyline.
The CP_POLYGETZ command is a powerful tool for ensuring elevation consistency between polylines, aiding in precise 3D modeling and analysis.
