Managing Geometric Shapes in BricsCAD – with CADPower
Bengaluru, India
CADPower V 15.15 introduces a new command called CP_SHAPEMANAGER that was created with the sheet metal and wood cutting industry users in mind.
We had a request from one of our clients about wanting to lay a pattern of holes to be punched on a sheet of metal.
They wanted to try a different geometric patterns on the sheet and evaluate the possibilities.
The CP_SHAPEMANAGER command identifies several geometric shapes in your drawing and reports the type and number of occurrences of each pattern.
Shapes of each pattern from the selection can be replaced with another pattern easily by menu selection.
The CP_SHAPEMANAGER command came in handy and performed the job deftly.
With the punched out 2d profile ready, the user wanted to create a solid block out of this.
We used another cool tool in BricsCAD V15 to do this. It was not even necessary to do a boolean subtract of the inside punches.
The boundary detection techniques enabled by the QUAD menu options did this trick.
This is only the beginning of the CP_SHAPEMANAGER tool. If you are in the sheet metal, wood cutting, space planning, facilities management or AEC industry, I bet that you would need the services of a tool like this at some point in your work.
We would like to hear from you. The CP_SHAPEMANAGER is just one of the 200 tools that you will find in CADPoer that will save you hundreds of keystrokes, precious time, rework, monotony and provide you with more energy to concentrate on your core design tasks.
