In December 2016, we announced rental plans for GeoTools & CADPower. Our software is available both in rental and perpetual license plans, and I have written this post to clarify several questions our users have had about licensing.

Through this post, we would like to clearly announce the choice our users have: rental and perpetual. Currently, 95% of our users are on perpetual license and significant percentage of them use the current version as well.

We would like to encourage our users to move to a rental plan as this reduces the total cost of ownership and use of our software on an annual basis.

Having said this, we have no intention of removing the perpetual license offering, at-least until May 2019.

We have made some changes to the licensing and upgrade policy and these rules apply when users request license file replacement, determination of upgrade costs etc.
